This week's [info]fannish5:
Name 5 characters whose wardrobe you would love to have.

1) Penelope Garcia: Do I really need to justify this? *pervs on Kristen Vangsness*
2) Morgana: Rowr, gowns with pretty bodices and clean lines. (Though I expect Gwen's wardrobe would fit me better)
3) Sydney Bristow: All the wigs and stilettos I never knew I wanted to wear.
4) The Doctor: Fashion from across time and space, enough to fill a spiral staircase storage area. *wistful sigh*
5) Grace Kelly in To Catch A Thief

Fannish Friday 5
Who are your 5 favorite non-humanoid characters?

1. Diefenbaker (Due South)
2. Hobbes (Calvin & Hobbes)
3. Appa (Avatar)
4. Pilot (Farscape)
5. Bernard & Bianca (The Rescuers)

This was more difficult than I originally thought, because I realized non-humanoid is not the same thing as non-human, which rules out 99% of Star Trek, Star Wars, and other aliens & monsters. The first three spots were easy, but competitors for the last two included Elda (Dark Lord of Derkholm), Bunnicula, the Disreputable Dog & Mogget (Abhorsen books), Faithful/Pounce (Tortall books), Aslan (Narnia), Kazul (Enchanted Forest Chronicles), the Cowardly Lion (Oz books), and the Beaver (I Want to Go Home!).

The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about one another. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

I've asked enough people questions; I should probably give them the same opportunity. :)

******

Yuletide noms closed yesterday, and all of the fandoms I submitted made it in! In case anyone was curious, they were:
Southland
Life
Korman - I Want to Go Home!
Sayers - Lord Peter
The Pretender
Montgomery - The Blue Castle

A few links of awesome for [info]celli:

-A collection of funny protest signs: I think the first one is still my favorite.

-Hilarious analysis of response rates to online dating messages: I am especially amused that using the word "zombies" has a 40% response rate (above average).

-Information is Beautiful: a blog that analyzes information in pretty ways, or collects graphics from elsewhere. Like time travel in pop culture.

And to kill time before I have to start cleaning again, this week's [info]fannish5: What 5 series would you resurrect if you could?
1) Firefly. Yes, I am still bitter, and probably always will be.
2) Life
3) The Middleman
4) Jake 2.0
5) Sports Night

1) I have watched eight movies this week (one of which I've seen before), plus about 3 hours of short films from 1895-1906ish. I feel like my eyes are going to turn into movie reels if this keeps up. Once my Silent Cinema class hits feature films, I will be watching a MINIMUM of 7 movies a week. Yeaargh.

2) I found an old meme from my old computer (I've been going through my files and ruthlessly organizing them. I'm starting to feel a little OCD.), and wanted to post it. I'm particularly amused by the last item, which was clearly written before winter break:
Fandom Fling meme, gender-neutralized for your viewing pleasure )

3) My brain keeps composing parts of a Criminal Minds 5 things fic while I'm not paying attention. The thing is, there must be plenty of fics out there that posit alternate fates for the BAU team, right? It's an on-going subtext on the show that our profilers are only separated from the unsubs by a thin line of circumstance and choice, yet I haven't *seen* any around. Have any of ya'll spotted them? Am I just looking in the wrong places?

Meme from [info]apocalypsos and [info]taraljc:

Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudo-canon.

Indulge me. I just spent 10 hours straight editing my documentary, fueled only by peanut butter crackers and a thunderstorm. I can't tell if I have a crush on Final Cut Pro or Stockholm Syndrome. The doc turned out well, but I'm too tense-tired to fall asleep. I remember the last time I was this tired: I started making fun of myself for not going to bed, only to stop halfway through and go, "Wait, what?"

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open it to page 161.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

"However, since I am fairly trapped, let me make the best of it."

From Boswell's London Journal, 1762-63, ed. Frederick A. Pottle

Hmph. Frankly, the first sentence was much more juicy:
"Thus ended my intrigue with the fair Louisa, which I flattered myself so much with, and from which I expected at least a winter's safe copulation."

Wow, sounds like a real charmer.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this meme, so it's only right that I indulge. Gakked from, like, everybody.

Post a topic, list, category, whatever, in my comments section. (Examples: "Five Pranks Starbuck Pulled in Flight School", or "Five Jobs Serenity's crew really regretted" or "Five Times Dean Used the Impala in Dirty Ways.") Then, in a separate post, I'll post the answers to your Top 5 ideas, according to me.

My fandoms are all listed in my profile, if that helps. There are, uh, quite a few options.

So, Jenny's been sending me Doctor Who episodes, and I'm in the middle of a two-parter when Gmail locks down my account for "Unusual Usage." *screams* *throws tantrum*

I don't handle fannish deprivation very well. The episode is within minutes of my grasp, and I'm being denied. Very childish of me, but that's the way it is.

It's been 13 days since my last entry. And I missed my own one-year LJ anniversary, which was apparently on the 15th. However, I did start writing a Twelfth Night fanfic, because my school did a performance of it and I was pissed that Shakespeare never told us what happened to Antonio. It's not like you can go ask the guy what he was planning to write, since he's (sadly) several centuries dead.

On the plus side, I'm coping well with sleep deprivation, and I finally have a list of colleges I'm applying to. Homecoming pictures will also be scanned and available to my flist as soon as I get them developed. I had a red vintage dress that was very sassy and fun, and I cut my hair to mid-neck.

I'm not thinking about the election. I'm not worrying and losing sleep. I'm not thinking about the 4 hours of campaign volunteering I still need to do sometime between now and Nov. 2, while writing several papers and going to Houston and RenFest. *smacks self* Most definitely am not worrying about my total lack of life and love interest.

A Conversation Following Yoga, Between Myself and the Evil Twin, While Severely Whacked Out On Endorphins and Blood Oxygen:

Dad: Okay, so we're getting breakfast tacos for dinner. And ya'll can have some fruit, so it's remotely healthy. I think we have some bananas.
Me: Bananas with breakfast tacos? You really have no taste buds, do you?
Lindsey: It's the cigarettes.
Me: Ya know, those grow back in a couple of days, or a week, after you stop smoking. Same thing with the cilia in your lungs.
Lindsey: Ah, but cancer is forever.
Me: *giggles madly* (starts humming the DeBeers diamond song) And then, you can have a silouhette with, like, a lump....
Lindsey: *can't breathe*
Dad: (to Mom) Aren't we so glad they went to yoga tonight?
Me: But I have oxygen in my brain. It's very exciting. Aren't you excited?
Mom: *snarky sideways look, with excellent use of eyebrows*

Ah, dinner discussions. My family takes them to whole new levels of randomness.

Part of being on Livejournal.com is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first 'meeting' you.

*quirks eyebrow at friends' list* How 'bout it, ya'll?

Also, does anyone have fic recs for Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman? I just finished the book, and *really* want more. I read Forgotten Girl some time back, which is wonderful. Any help?

I want everyone who reads this to ask me 3 questions, no more no less. Ask me anything you want. Then I want you to go to your journal, copy and paste this allowing your friends (including myself) to ask you anything.

Meh. Want to sleep. Realized I need to finish my English book by tomorrow, as there will inevitably be a quiz. Fortunately, I like the book. Ceremony, by Leslie Marmon Silko. She has a love for storytelling, in the old sense, which I find entrancing.

By the way, thanks for all the book recs the other day, ya'll! I decided to go with American Gods, simply because I want to do a comparative study of Gaiman's works, and reference Good Omens. I was explaining my ideas for the paper with my teacher, and he started laughing at my explanation of the Antichrist, so hopefully I can hook him on it and fear no more for my grade ;)
