First off, I made myself an icon! It's from that recent XKCD strip, and I needed to trade out my fall icon for a winter one anyway.

******

I have fangirled Zoic Studios, the special effects people who did Firefly, for awhile now. I knew they were my kind of people when I saw the Battlestar Galactica miniseries and a little Firefly-class ship flew by in the background of an early scene. So when I heard they'd started a blog, rather creepily named I Design Your Eyes (apparently a Blade Runner reference?), I went over to explore.

I was scrolling past a fundraiser notice for an LA theater group, and went, "Hey, is that Wendell from Bones?" In tights and hilarious plaid shoes? And indeed it was! LOLtastic, right?

But even BETTER, there were pictures from *another* production last year that apparently had the scorchingly hot combo of Chris Pine and Jamie Rae Newman.

Barefoot. Bedheaded. Shirtless.

Don't say I never did nothin' for ya. :D

I have to watch a movie called Simple Men for this paper, and one of the leads, Bill Sage, has a freakish resemblance to Mikey Way. Like, REALLY freaky. They have the same bone structure. The same mouth. The same pointy nose. The same monotone and :| face, for crying out loud! (it's one of the director's trademarks for the period) It doesn't help that he's playing a younger brother of a family from New York.

If you don't believe me, the movie is availableon Netflix Instant Viewing. I want to post pictures, but I don't have anywhere to upload them.

ETA: picture linked in comments!

(Seriously, Twitter is turning into one of those monsters that eats everyone in fandom! Next, the world.)

BUT. My actual point was that I think Brendon Urie finally got a Twitter, and I am amused. And, between all the blogging and the Twitter explosion and watching movies involving voyeurism for class, I feel increasingly stalkerish.

Someday, I will give in and get an account just so I can tell Mikey Way that he should see Best Worst Movie when it gets distribution.

Last night was interesting: I went straight from bridge club to a sex toy workshop. They were even next door to each other! Both were awesome - a couple of the girls at bridge decided they were getting drunk and going to bed early (because they were tired), so S. was playing hysterically badly. At one point, she was horrified to find that A. was going to make what S. had bid, which is so not supposed to happen.

At the workshop, the two women who spoke were funny and informative, and there was pad thai. I was also traumatized by her commentary on the history of circumcision, which got a large boost in the US from Kellogg and Graham, brother of Kellogg Cornflakes guy and he of the graham crackers, respectively. It was intended to reduce masturbation, and they also advocated "the application of pure carbolic acid to the clitoris [as] an excellent means of allaying the abnormal excitement." HOLY CRAP THAT'S NOT ON. We were such a good crowd, too - all the girls gasped in horror at that tidbit. Gee, wonder why that didn't catch on? The ladies also brought a metric ton of toys and lube and such that they passed around for examination. It was very educational! I took notes!

Moving on, the "which movies have you seen" meme, from [info]poisonivory:

First of all: I turn 19 today! Happy birthday, [info]inmyriadbits! Soon, I shall be in NY, and the city will tremble in fear....

Reason #2023 I Love My Westerns Film Course: While writing an essay on High Noon, I get to write, "The conflict set up at the beginning, however, requires Kane to chose to fight evil in the form of Frank Miller...."
Which is waaaay funnier if you are familiar with DC Comics and who these men are in relation to Batman, but if you don't know, I'm not revealing the depths of my nerdiness.

In music news, (I know, Lindsey, I have music news! *gasp*) I won a free CD through the power of Google. This group called The 35th Parallel came to Wes for a concert, and I signed up for their mailing list. They held a competition to see who could figure out the source of their new CD title, Crossing Painted Islands. It has to do with road markings, actually, but I got a free CD and I like their music, so: sweet! (Happy birthday to me ;) )

Also, I went to a Tuvan throat singing concert. Very cool.

At this hour in the morning, one would have expected me to have 1) finished my paper or 2) gone to bed. But no, I go on IMDB and look up past Doctor Who actors.

This activity, however puerile, did inform me that Tom Baker, who played the 4th Doctor with the scarf that everyone (apparently) knows best, was Puddleglum in the BBC's The Silver Chair. *squee* OMG, he was fantastic in that movie! Damnit, I do not need to go searching for 40-year-old television seasons, I really don't....
